The initiative in Monreale is part of a journey that the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development began in June 2017, when – during a conference in the Vatican – the International Consultation Group for justice, corruption, organized crime and mafias was established, in an attempt to promote a constant contact on such issues with civil society, the academic world, businesses and the press, and also local institutions and local dioceses.

The program included a meeting on last 28 April at the Diocese of Locri and on 17 May there was a visit to the Vatican Museums with the students of the Attilio Romanò Institute of Scampia, Secondigliano and Miano and of the Centro Hurtado di Scampia. On 1 June a meeting with the participation of the General Secretary of the CEI, Msgr. Nunzio Galantino and the Bishop of Teano-Calvi and Msgr. Giacomo Cirulli was held in the Diocese of Teano-Calvi.
