Water an essential element for life (2013)

Contributions by the Holy See on the occasion of the World Water Forum (2003-2012)

Water an essential element for life (2013)

The book presents the contributions prepared by the Holy See on the occasion of the World Water Forum in Kyoto (2003), Mexico City (2006), Istanbul (2009) and Marseilles (2012).

The wish of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace (now merged into Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development) is to continue in the priority effort to provide drinking water to everyone, and to take as a reference a wide definition of its access: regular and constant access, in sufficient quantity to allow people at least to live in dignity, and that it be accessible from the economic, legislative and factual standpoints. Moreover, its smell, taste and colour should allow it to be used effectively. Everything must be done in the most sustainable way for society, the environment, and the economy.

With a presentation by Card. Peter K.A. Turkson President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, and of His Excellency Mgr. Mario Toso, Secretary, the collection was published by LEV in 2013 (LEV, pp. 121, 10 euro).
