Populorum Progressio Foundation

for Latin America

The Populorum Progressio Foundation for Latin America and the Caribbean was founded in 1992, on the occasion of the Fifth Centenary of the Evangelization of the American Continent, by Pope John Paul II. Its headquarters are located at the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and its Operations Secretariat is in Bogotá, in Colombia.

With the collaboration of the Italian Episcopal Conference, the Foundation aims at promoting the integral human development of the communities of farmers (campesinos), the indigenous peoples and African Americans of Latin America and the Caribbean, bearing witness to the closeness of the Pope through the works of charity that are accomplished.

The Foundation collaborates with all those who, aware of the conditions of the vulnerable populations of Latin America, wish to contribute to their integral human development.
