The Justice and Peace Foundation
in memory of Cardinal Francois-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân
The Justice and Peace Foundation (former San Matteo Foundation), in memory of Cardinal Francois-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, was established by Pope Benedict XVI in February 2007. Its headquarters are in the Vatican City State, at the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
The Foundation works by supporting initiatives that aim at granting humanitarian aid to developing countries for the promotion of poor populations; by funding scholarships to students of courses on the Social Doctrine of the Church. The Foundation, today part of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, actively promotes the Cause of Beatification of Cardinal François-Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân, who for some years was President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. His life was a true evangelical testimony of Christian love, hope and faith.
In order to continue to follow his example, the Foundation proposes to study and spread the Social Doctrine of the Church, according to the principles expressed in the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church.
