Le titre de Master en Affaires publiques internationales a été décerné par la Luiss School of Government
Un Master honoris causa décerné à Sr Alessandra Smerilli, f.m.a., Secrétaire du Dicastère pour le Service du développement humain intégral (DSSUI). À l’occasion des célébrations du 15e anniversaire de la Luiss School of Government, le 25 juin 2026, Sr Smerilli s’est vu décerner le titre de Master en Affaires publiques internationales. L’événement s’est ouvert par la projection d’une vidéo commémorative et par les allocutions officielles du recteur de l’institut, M. Paolo Boccardelli, suivies de celles de diverses autorités universitaires.
Le discours d'éloge (laudatio)prononcé par le professeur Sergio Fabbrini, professeur émérite de sciences politiques et de relations internationales et ancien doyen de la Luiss School of Government, a ouvert la première session en présentant Sœur Alessandra Smerilli, qui a donné une conférence magistralesur le thème « Créer le possible ».
En partageant avec les personnes présentes l’expérience personnelle d’une mission en Inde, Sœur Alessandra a réfléchi à la possibilité de « créer le possible », même là où les conditions semblent le rendre difficile. « Le possible naît toujours d’une tension intérieure qu’aucune condition matérielle ne parvient totalement à éteindre », a déclaré Sœur Smerilli.
Cela vaut également dans les domaines politique et économique : « Gouverner signifie orienter une société vers un avenir désirable : identifier des espaces de développement humain qui n’existent pas encore, créer les conditions pour qu’ils puissent émerger et lever les obstacles au développement qui freinent leur croissance et leur innovation. »
Sœur Smerilli a rappelé que, dans ce processus de création, tout le monde doit être impliqué, y compris les personnes vivant en marge de la société. Elle a souligné que le possible ne doit pas être créé uniquement par ceux qui détiennent un pouvoir de décision et que, comme le répétait le pape François, les personnes exclues ne doivent pas être simplement les bénéficiaires des politiques publiques, mais les protagonistes de la construction de l’avenir.
Sœur Smerilli a conclu en soulignant un aspect personnel qui exprime un possible qu’il a fallu créer : « Aujourd’hui encore, certains ont du mal à associer les mots “religieuse” et “économiste”. Pourtant, la vie est faite de rencontres entre des mondes qui semblaient inconciliables. Chacun de nous porte en lui des possibilités qu’aucune catégorie ne saurait épuiser. »
La deuxième conférence magistrale prévue au programme de la soirée a été donnée par le professeur Giuliano Da Empoli, précédée d’un discours d’éloge (laudatio) prononcé par le professeur Giovanni Orsina.
La cérémonie s’est achevée par la remise des distinctions, à laquelle ont également participé le sous-secrétaire du DSSUI, Mons. Jozef Barlaš, le chef de bureau, le p. Avelino Chico, ainsi que d’autres salariés du Dicastère.
