Concedido o título de Mestre em Relações Públicas Internacionais pela Luiss School of Government
Mestrado Honoris Causa conferido à Ir. Alessandra Smerilli FMA, Secretário do Dicastério para o Serviço do Desenvolvimento Humano Integral (DSDHI). Por ocasião das comemorações do 15º aniversário da Luiss School of Government, em 25 de junho de 2026, a Irmã Smerilli recebeu o título de Mestre em Relações Públicas Internacionais. O evento teve início com a exibição de um vídeo comemorativo e as saudações institucionais do Reitor do Instituto, Dr. Paolo Boccardelli, seguidas por várias autoridades acadêmicas.
A saudação do Prof. Sergio Fabbrini, professor emérito de Ciência Política e Relações Internacionais e ex-reitor da Luiss School of Government, abriu a primeira sessão, apresentando a Irmã Alessandra Smerilli, que proferiu uma palestra magistral sobre o tema “Criar o possível”.
Ao compartilhar com os presentes sua experiência pessoal em uma missão na Índia, a Irmã Alessandra refletiu sobre a possibilidade de “criar o possível” mesmo onde as condições o tornam difícil. “O possível nasce sempre de uma tensão interior que nenhuma condição material consegue extinguir por completo”, disse a Irmã Alessandra.
Isso aplica-se também no âmbito político ou econômico: “Governar significa orientar uma sociedade rumo a um futuro desejável: identificar espaços de desenvolvimento humano que ainda não existem e criar as condições para que possam surgir, além de remover os obstáculos ao desenvolvimento que freiam seu crescimento e inovação”.
A Irmã Smerilli lembrou que, nesse processo de criação, todos devem estar envolvidos, inclusive aqueles que vivem à margem. Ela ressaltou que o possível não deve ser criado apenas por quem detém o poder de decisão e, como repetia o Papa Francisco, os excluídos não devem ser simplesmente os destinatários das políticas públicas, mas protagonistas da construção do futuro.”
A Irmã Smerilli concluiu destacando um aspecto pessoal que expressa um “possível” que teve de ser criado: “ainda hoje há quem tenha dificuldade em associar as palavras ‘freira’ e ‘economista’. No entanto, a vida está repleta de encontros entre mundos que pareciam inconciliáveis. Cada um de nós carrega dentro de si possibilidades que nenhuma categoria consegue esgotar”.
A segunda Lectio Magistralis programada para a noite foi ministrada pelo Prof. Giuliano Da Empoli, precedida pela laudatio do Prof. Giovanni Orsina.
A cerimônia foi encerrada com a entrega dos prêmios, da qual também participaram o subsecretário do DSDHI, Monsenhor Jozef Barlaš, o chefe de gabinete, Pe. Avelino Chico, e alguns oficiais.
