"Caridad en la frontera". The Dicastery and the Migrants and Refugees Section on a mission to Cucuta

Pastoral challenges on the border between Colombia and Venezuela

On Thursday 30 and Friday 31 January the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and the Migrants and Refugees Section are promoting a meeting entitled "Caridad en la frontera" at the diocese of Cucuta (Colombia), on the border with Venezuela.

The meeting, which will be attended by Catholic charity bodies, delegates from international organizations and representatives of local episcopates and ecclesial institutions that operate in humanitarian, welcoming and integration projects on site, as well as representatives of the Holy See, is animated from the pastoral intent to express the concern of the Holy Father for border situations, and to share and put in synergy the charitable activities of the Church in favor of the most vulnerable people in that context.

The meeting will be attended by the Under-Secretaries of the Dicastery and the Section, respectively Msgr. Segundo Tejado Muñoz and Fr. Fabio Baggio.

Card. Peter K.A. Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery, sent a message at the opening of the meeting on January 30th.
