Bishops responsible for migration ministry in North America, Central America and the Caribbean meet in El Salvador

Bishops of the Episcopal Conferences of North America, Central America and the Caribbean who are responsible for Human Mobility meet in El Salvador from August 21 to 25, 2023.

The objective of this ecclesial event, which is supported by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, is “to develop a wider space for participation, in order to give a more far-reaching response to the pastoral challenges posed by the phenomenon of migration” in the region.

This initiative is inspired by Pope Francis's Message for the 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2023, "Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay".

The meeting takes place within the framework of the annual meeting of Bishops and pastoral agents of Human Mobility of the Southern Border of Mexico and Central America. Gustavo Rodríguez Vega, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Ecclesial Network on Migration, Displacement, Refugees and Human Trafficking (CLAMOR), and officials of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development participate, as well.
