Circus, a meeting and acceptance gym

Message from Card. Turkson to circus performers and exhibitors gathered in Montecarlo

Circus, a meeting and acceptance gym

Card. Peter K.A. Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, sent a message today to the Forum of Christian Organizations for the Pastoral Care of Circus and Lunaparchists, meeting in Montecarlo, in conjunction with the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and the Montecarlo International Circus Festival.

"The world of circus and fairs - said Turkson - is a world that constantly lives the multicultural dimension of meeting and hospitality. The people and families that make it up, heterogeneous in origin, culture and faith, in art and profession are on the move everywhere in the world to enrich the squares and cities of moments of entertainment and art that offer those who wish to find a smile ".

The members of the Forum, pastors and national directors - continued the Cardinal - are bearers of a great "ecumenical commitment to making the Gospel present among those who work in the world of circuses and fairs, a precious tool to promote in every person operating in this I am looking for a development that is truly integral ".

Finally, he concluded, "the itinerant art and entertainment that you offer is a breath of the oxygen of the joy that the world needs so much: how many people seek that same joy continuously in false and deceptive paradises, which leave a bad taste in the mouth. A laugh torn by a clown even from the Pope is the sound of a heart that finds its way to happiness ". Bringing a smile to those who live in suffering is a sign of God's mercy.
