Catholic University of America: a visit focused on Justice, Peace, Economics

Link between faith and business: implementing Social Teaching of the Church in Economics

On Friday, May 31st, a group of 21 young students from the Catholic University of America (CUA) was received by H. Em. Cardinal Peter K. A. Turkson and some officials of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, in the Etchegaray Hall.

The meeting, organised by Prof. Andreas Widmer, Professor of Economics at CUA and a former Swiss Guard, serving under pope John Paul II, was focused on  the topics of Economy, Justice and Peace, in view of the International Gathering of Assisi in 2020, and in the path of the Social Teaching of the Church.

Students of CUA were particularly interested in the link between business and faith, and conversation was based on a free exchange on their Catholic Social Teaching course they attended during the semester.

The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development is often engaged in meeting University students in order to share with them the mission and task of promoting human dignity in all aspects of life, in the light of Christian Relevation.
