Debate “Fighting corruption and mafia with culture”

Friday 1 June 2018, Tommasiello Auditorium, Teano (Naples)

On Friday, June 1, the Dicastery for Promoting Human Integral Development  promoted a debate entitled: “Fighting corruption and mafia with culture”.

The event, which will take place at 5:00 pm at the Tommasiello Auditorium of Teano (Naples), is organized with the collaboration of the Diocese of Teano-Calvi and ‘Associazione Libera’, and includes the participation of H.E. Msgr. Nunzio Galantino, Secretary General of the Italian Bishops Conference; Msgr. Giacomo Cirulli, Bishop of Teano-Calvi; Don Luigi Ciotti, President of ‘Associazione Libera’; Msgr. Bruno Marie Duffé, Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and Vittorio V. Alberti, Official of the same Dicastery and author of the book “Pane Sporco”, which will be presented during the debate. The Conference, which will include the screening of Pope Francis’ video message against corruption, will be moderated by the Vice-Director of Repubblica, Sergio Rizzo.

The initiative in Teano falls within the program that the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development began in June 2017, when – within the ambit of the conference in the Vatican – the International Consultation Group for justice, corruption, organized crime and mafias was created, in an attempt to promote a constant contact on such issues such as civil society, the academic world, businesses and the press, and also local institutions and local dioceses.

The program included a meeting on last 28 April at the Diocese of Locri and on the following 17 May there was a visit to the Vatican Museums with the students of the Attilio Romanò Institute of Scampia, Secondigliano and Miano and of the Centro Hurtado di Scampia. The next meeting will take place at Monreale on 22 June, with the participation of the Public Prosecutor of Rome, Giuseppe Pignatone and the Bishop of Monreale, Msgr. Michele Pennisi.
