The ninth edition of the World Water Forum opens today, Monday 21 March, at the CICAD conference centre in Diamniadio, in the region of Dakar, capital of Senegal. The slogan of this year's event is "water security for peace and development". The Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development had already contributed to giving visibility to the Forum by organising a webinar dedicated to water and integral human development under the label "Road to Dakar".
The Holy See Delegation present at the Forum is led by Cardinal Michael Czerny S.J., acting Prefect of the Dicastery. It also includes Dr. Tebaldo Vinciguerra, Official of the Dicastery, as well as representatives of the Apostolic Nunciature in Senegal and the local Church.
This Monday, 21st March, Card. Czerny reads Pope Francis' Message to the Forum participants. The text highlights the themes of collaboration and peace, the human right to water and sanitation (in the wake of the WASH initiative in health centres coordinated by the Dicastery), recalling the Document Aqua fons vitae.
