Card. Turkson at the Pre-Synodal Meeting for Young People

The Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, Card. Peter KA Turkson, participated in the Pre-Synodal Meeting for Young People, which took place from 19 to 24 March, in view of the world meeting to be held from 3 to 28 October 2018 on the theme "Young people, faith and vocational discernment".

About 300 young people from all over the world took part in the preparatory meeting and another 15 thousand were connected via social networks. At the end of the meeting, a conclusive document was drawn up. It was intended to act as an "informative tool" to better decipher the world of young people, destined for the Synodal Fathers, and then delivered to Pope Francis.

The text deals with the challenges and opportunities of young people in today's world, of faith and vocation, of the theme of discernment and accompaniment, and of the educational and pastoral action of the Church. In the document the young people ask to write to the ecclesiastical hierarchy who desire "an authentic Church, a transparent, honest, inviting, communicative, accessible, joyful and interactive community".
